Chicago Sky Basketball Academy and the Chicago Sky strongly believe talented, passionate players - who would otherwise be prevented by finances - should have the opportunity to nurture their growth. Several of our past scholarship recipients have gone on to become capable college players. And this year, we're excited to announce the addition of ten (10) scholarships to deserving girls in grades 7 to 10.
ELIGIBILITY:
The scholarship is for girls in 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grades who love the game of basketball and aspire to be a high impact high school player.
THE SCHOLARSHIP:
Ten (10) scholarships will be awarded for the Spring/Summer season (March to July), valued at $2500. Recipients will also be awarded a shooting shirt, backpack, and use of a uniform in which will need to be returned at the end of the season. (Players and their families will need to provide travel to/from practices and tournaments).
RENEWALS AND BEYOND:
Recipients will be given the opportunity to renew their scholarship annually until the fall of their senior year.
Athletes with an aspiration and ability to play college basketball will also be provided the opportunity for college counseling assistance when the time comes.
THE COMMITMENT:
The season runs March through July, during which time Travel Teams practice three times per week with eight (8) weekend tournaments. Coaches will teach core fundamentals, creativity, and craftiness of basketball. The girls will learn how to recognize choices, understand their strengths and weaknesses, make great decisions, and chart a path to self-improvement on and off the court.
Of course, we understand everyone is busy and scheduling conflicts will come up. There will be no practices or games during spring break (March 18 - April 2), Easter (April 8-9), Fourth of July (July 1-4) and we are happy to accommodate the missed practices (within reason).

TIMELINE:
Feb 15, 2023: Online applications due.
Feb 22, 2023: Last day applicants will be notified if they have been awarded a scholarship
Feb 28, 2023 (7:00-8:30pm at Latin School of Chicago): Mandatory practice to help coaches determine placements.
March 3, 2023: Applicants notified of team assignments via email.
Week of March 6, 2023: Team practices begin
